Madison College
Apprenticeship Icon
Madison College's Technology and Trades department requested an icon to represent its Apprenticeship programs. This design serves as a visual identifier, distinguishing the college's apprenticeship offerings while maintaining alignment with Madison College’s overall branding.
The goal was to create a mark that is instantly recognizable as a symbol of apprenticeships while representing hands-on learning, technical skill development and education. The design needed to be clean, modern and versatile, ensuring usability across various print and digital applications.

Vector Color Explorations
After a lot of exploration with form and color, the top right vector was chosen as the final direction for the icon. It had the most visual contrast and allowed for a single-color application, making printing easier and maximizing scalability.
Final Icon
The final icon shows a collection of tools associated with apprenticeships emerging from an open book set in front of a gear symbol. Per request, the wrench was swapped out for a caliper in the final version. To ensure versatility, the single color icon was modified for dark backgrounds using an offset stroke, keeping the icon clear and legible in all contexts.
